We offer membership on an annual basis for the calendar year. There is no obligation to maintain membership on an annual basis (other than committee members) but we do ask that every performer in our productions join the society for the corresponding calendar year. Membership is $50 per year. This goes towards the cost of running the society (largely insurance premiums and legal registrations to ensure safety for all!).
While we have a core group of loyal performers, each production has its own recruitment process. Our shows and cabarets follow an audition process. Audition notices are posted on our Facebook page (and external pages), with information packs available on our website. Our concerts and smaller productions may be by invitation, or via a call out for singers on our Facebook page.
Shows and cabarets attract a “show fee” consistent with other amateur societies. This is to help towards the costs of preparing for a show – rehearsal venues, rehearsal musicians, printed materials etc. Recent fees have been from $80 for cabarets and $120 for staged musicals.
Please note:
Membership does not guarantee selection in the audition process.
Members/performers can participate in as many or as few productions as they wish and are only required to pay membership fees for years when they perform. Fees are only collected once per year (e.g perform in 2 shows in one calendar year and pay two show fees but one membership fee).
Members are invited to attend the annual AGM.
We ask all members to publicise each production to encourage friends and family to attend. We provide shareable Facebook content and printed materials to assist.
Mosman Musical Society is a Not for Profit community organisation.
